GL Screensavers for linux os

I have published a post on "Screensavers in Linux Operating System". Today I am giving you some more screen saver which are called GL Screensaver.

XScreenSaver and GL(Mesa) xscreensavers are actually a modular screen saver and locker for X11, both are containing more than 200 screen savers.

XScreenSaver package contains a small selection of 3D (OpenGL) screen saver modules from the xscreensaver collection.

GL screensavers  package contains the rest of the 3D (OpenGL) screen saver modules from the xscreensaver collection. This package is used
by both xscreensaver and gnome-screensaver. And this package could be down-loadable in almost every linux distribution's software manager.

Two Lubuntu and Xubuntu blog to explore

Today I am going to tell you something about two blogspot blogs. Day by day LXDE and XFCE based distributions are coming infront of main stream Linux world. Many of us starting to love these lightweight operating systems. But there are not much blog which published tips and tricks about these desktop environments. Recently I found two blogspot blogs which are not official but publishing many valuable, informative, importent tips and tricks about LXDE and XFCE.

Lubuntu Tips

First of all I am telling about LXDE based Lubuntu blog. It's called "Lubuntu Tips". Url is http://lubuntutips.blogspot.com.

I don't know the man behind this blog. But I honor her/his effort to teach us about Lubuntu and LXDE. I learned many tips from this blog. I will publish some of them in my blog from "Lubuntutips" blog. Tips, tricks, hacks, customisation, decoration, various information and news about Lubuntu and lxde are available there. I really love this blogsite and visit it regularly. I am really learning miscelanious information from there.

Xubuntu Geek

XFCE is another famous lightweight Desktop Environment in the Linux world. In the 'Xubuntugeek' blogsite, the briliant blog owner publish various informative, critical tips, information, news, tweek regularly. Once upon a time there is a 'Xubuntu' blog on wordpress. But now a days update posts did not come for many months. But this 'Blogspot' based blogsite is active now. I got many many idea, informations from this blog.

If you are a user of Lubuntu or Xubuntu, then these sites must help you much better then any other blog. I wish these blogs will continue their journey for many years and help people to solve various problem. I will publish some tips, tweek, hacks and informations from these blogsite with acknoledgement in the next days.

Ubuntu Lubuntu 12.04 Shutdown doesn't power off [Solved]

I found that Ubuntu 12.04 and it's family (Lubuntu Xubuntu Kubuntu 12.04) does not power off when I Shutdown or Reboot my PC. When I press shutdown button it kills all running processes and the screen goes black but my computer doesn't power off. Machine's fans are still running and the screen is still on. It stop at the screen shows below.

I have to hold down the power button in order to completely shut down my PC. It seems all processes are stop working, but a blue dot under logo is still on and nothing happened afterwards.

• sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
• Now find the line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
• Change this line to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=force"
Save the file and close the file. Finally, in terminal, type:
• sudo update-grub

To implement commands you must press 'ENTER' button of your keyboard after each command. This command has been solve my problem.
Remember that at first line 'gedit' is a name of text editor. So if you are in Lubuntu change 'gedit' and write 'leafpad' to open grub configuration file. Do the same for other Linux distro.

Check md5sum of ISO on Linux

After downloading a Linux ISO file it is wise to check it's md5 value. The result will show you that the file is not corrupted and it is safe to use. The MD5 calculation gives a checksum result should be equal with the supplied number. It confirm both file integrity and authenticity. I am writing a simple method to check MD5 (Message Digest algorithm 5) using Ubuntu. This method is same in most linux operating system.

You may know that Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) Published to download. But there are more Ubuntu derivatives which you can taste. They are Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Lubuntu and Xubuntu. All distributions are now have 12.04 version. All are LTS (Long term support). From this version ubuntu and its all derivatives will get security and other support for 5 years. I think this distributions might be helpful for you if you want some different essence according to your choice, working habit and hardware support. Here I am explaining one by one.
