I guess, it is depend on "How old is your laptop?", generally laptop with more than 2 years gives very less battery backup. My laptop is 5-6 year old and it gives only 1 hour of battery back up, initially it was giving 3 hour. So it is not about the same OS or same type of laptop. It is also depend on the number of application your are running and brightness of the screen, the less application you are running with less brightness of the screen the more battery back up you will get.
