Is it remember IP address? No, because I changed my IP address after restart computer. Then? Is Google remembering my computer, machine's architect number or any hardware code? Who knows?

I am just installed Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) on my machine. Installation process takes only 8 minutes to complete. You may check "Ubuntu 10.10 installation guide and gallery" to fly through the process. I am really impressed. It is really fast, I mean fastest operating system. Looks very smart. Icons has changed on many place. But after install I did not found some necessary application.
  • A handy internet traffic monitor Netspeed is not available on 'Synaptic package manager' or 'Ubuntu Software Center'.
  • My Nokia E50 Mobile device is not detect so fast as 10.04 or older. It takes a long time to detect it. Even after a long wait, when it found my mobile phone it did not start 'Mobile broadband connection wizard' automatically. I need to click network icon several times and I succeed.
I run 'sudo apt-get update' in terminal. My system is updating on background. ubuntu system updatingAfter completing update I will install 'conky' at first.Then I will install Ubuntu restricted extras. It will install some commonly used applications with restricted copyright. So after install this package will enable ability to play mp3, avi, mpeg, trutype, Java, Flash etc.

I will install Unrar to open rar files in Ubuntu Linux.
I like to install Lugaru and World of Goo, the best physics based puzzle game I ever played. I will install 'Leafpad'. It is my favourite application to write some text. As I know that OpenOffice.org is going to die within short time, then I must use 'Libre Office'. So I will install Libre office on my Ubuntu machine. Oh yes, I will install safely remove USB device applet. and Oh yes... there are various kind of beautiful wallpaper available now on desktop background. In this Ubuntu version they added two auto scroll wallpaper set. This can change wallpaper automaticaly.

NetSpeed: Internet traffic monitor

I add it in my top panel and always be active with it when I surf through online. It is a internet connection indicator, speed indicator, download and upload speed checker. It can show download and uploading speed on top panel.
Netspeed is an applet for the GNOME panel that shows how much traffic occurs on a network device (ethernet card, wireless LAN card, or dial-up).

safely remove usb and other device with an appletYou need to install a little application, you may call it a taskbar applet or an application indicator. Download a tiny (Only 2.8 KB) deb file from this link. Double click the file named : "indicator-usb-0.2.1.deb". It will install an application indicator for easy USB device safe-removal. Version: 0.2.1

This is a installable deb file. So, I think it will work on all Debian based linux, like Debian Ubuntu, LinuxMint, Peppermint etc. Now, eject any usb device in a smart way. This cute and lovely little applet can handle all other device (include harddisk) which is mounted on your machine.

How to run it?
Press 'Alt+F2'. This shortcut will start 'Run Application'. On the command box write 'indicator-usb' and hit enter. It will run this applet.
If you do not want to run this applet every time, then make it start automatically when your PC start.
Add 'indicator-usb' to your Startup Applications

Both time it will start, run and stays hidden on top panel. When you insert or mount any device it will awake from hide mode and appear on top panel right side. You can do the rest clicking on that icon.

Maintainer of this indicator-usb pakage: Eugeny Pankov

Download this applet (Only 2.8 KB, deb file) from this link.

Delete "Newer Posts" and "Older Posts" Links from Blogger blog

Today, I will tell you how to delete or remove or hide "Newer Posts" and "Older Posts" links from the bottom of the posts on blogger.com blog. If you want to show your blog like a website then you might looking for this kind of blogger.com blog hack. This hack is very easy to implement. Just add a one line and your desire will comes true.

Log in to your blogger dashboard. Go directly to Design> Edit HTML and search for the text below:
#blog-pager-newer-link {
float: left;
}

#blog-pager-older-link {
float: right;
}

#blog-pager {
text-align: center;
}
Now change a little on the above code with this code I written below:
#blog-pager-newer-link {
float: left;
display: none;
}

#blog-pager-older-link {
float: right;
display: none;
}

#blog-pager {
text-align: center;
display: none;
}
You might understand that we are actually hiding those link with a simple line "display:none:". It don't delete the links. If you really want to delete those 'Newer' and 'Older' Posts links from your blog then delete the first code from your blog html page.

If you want to get back those link again. Then just remove the simple line "display:none" from blogger html page. Links will be visible in your blog again.

Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) is a another stunning experience in the os world. I have published a blogpost before Ubuntu10.10 Netbook review & gallery. Ubuntu10.10 Netbook review & gallery

Ubuntu 10.10 netbok desktopI have downloaded Ubuntu10.10 Netbook version. This ISO file is slightly larger than desktop releases ISO size. You know I had tried to run it in VirtualBos OSE. But failed. I thought Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook is not start in desktop hardware, but it is not true. No required driver detected for unity problem caused for lower graphics card. I told you that I burn the ISO file on a compact disk and insert it in cd drive and seitch on my computer. It takes at leas 18 minutes to start desktop. It is a very long time to start an operating system. But I know that my CDDrive is an ancient one. Though it has 32x write capability but it won't work. I waited till it show desktop. I went on kitchen and do wash for 15 minutes. I came back to computer several time to check if it starts or not. At last I came to Ubuntu 10.10 netbook desktop.

At a glance everybody will look at the leftbar. It's called "Unity apps menu". This left bar comes with some common application. To run an app, click on the app icon (launcher).

If this bar fills up, the apps icons at the top and bottom goes fold up accordion style. Hover mouse pointer over an icon to return to normal size. By dragging or scroll that icons up and down we can see those that are lower down or higher up on that bar.

No required driver detected for unity [Solved]

I have wrote a post on 12 October that Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook is not start in Desktop Hardware. I tried to run Ubuntu 10.10 netbook ISO on Virtual Box OSE.

Actually the problem caused by non 3d graphics driver. I did not install any 3d support on Virtual Box. So I saw the message "No required driver detected for unity". If you install any 3d graphics driver on Virtual box, Ubuntu 10.10. netbook will run there.

Later I burnt that ISO file on a CD and running Ubuntu 10.10 netbook in my desktop computer and posting this blogpost. No problem. Everything is fast and funny. I am writing a post on Ubuntu 10.10 netbook after publishing this post. Pleaser follow next post.

My suggestion to you that, run it in a desktop or laptop machine. If your gadget is a newer one then I wish you can run UNR on it. But if your computer's hardware cannot run any 3d acceleration then Unity desktop won't run and goes back into 2d mode. You have to install a suitable 3d driver for your video card manually. Please read this Unity Hardware Requirement page for the minimal requirements and details. You can install a driver (has 3d support) after intall UNR on harddisk.

New Peppermint Ice os startup messages

I have just downloaded Peppermint-Ice-10012010.iso. It is new version of Peppermint Ice OS. You know I like Peppermint OS very much. Because it is an official distribution of Debian based Linux which use LXDE as desktop environment. My love is based on these two things. Using Debain based Linux is easy. Installing software is very easy and fast. LXDE can run on older computer, so I like to support Peppermint OS. I was not available in internet for some days. When I was offline Peppermint official published their new release. When I know it, don't be any late to download my favorite fork ICE. I try it with VirtualBox OSE. I am quite frustrated viewing the startup messages.
Peppermint ise startup booting inforThe first thing I noticed that I am running Peppermint ICE, but it is showing 'Peppermint One'. What a funny!!
peppermint os startup error messageOn the running process it shows this message.
.[ 14.200889] piix4_smbus 0000:00:07.0: SMBus base address uninitialized - upgrade BIOS or use force_addr=0xaddr
I don't know the meaning of it.
peppermint ice os startup error messageThis message is quite horrible. Oh no! I don't want to see it again.
FATAL: Error inserting ramzswap (/lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/ramzswap/ramzswap.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (sec dmesg)
But at las, Peppermint run in normal stat and everything goes fine. I wish Peppermint official will think these simple thing before publish newer version.

LXDE Based Lubuntu 10.10 published for download

LXDE Based Light weight faster operating system Lubuntu10.10 website logoLubuntu is a LXDE based Ubuntu Linux operating system. It is very lightweight operating system which runs really very fast on slower computers. The whole system also very easy to use for newer Linux user.

As the official said:
Lubuntu is actually not part of the Ubuntu family, and not build with the current Ubuntu infrastructure. This release is considered as a « stable beta », a result that could be a final and stable release if we was included in the Ubuntu family.
Lubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) was released with Ubuntu 10.10. It featured some new test, like:-
  • It based on the lightweight LXDE desktop environment.
  • Faster file manager 'Pcmanfm 0.9.7'. It is a real fast and lightweight files manager using gio/gvfs.
  • Included Lxdm, a lightweight GTK display manager.
  • And as a web browser Lubuntu developers added 'Chromium', the open-source version of Google Chrome.
Improvements since 10.04 were:
  • Some programs which were installed by default have been updated like Update-notifier, Xpad and Ace of penguins.
  • Some applications were removed. Parcellite is not maintained upstream, it is less useful since most of copy/paste bugs was gone with pcmanfm 0.9.X. Pyneighborhood was replaced by gvfs support of pcmanfm.
  • And major changes are: LXtask replace Xfce4-taskmanager for tasks monitoring, Evince is now used for reading PDF, ePDFview have some serious memory leaks.
I have just read a great news in LXDE.org website. LXDE Blog post said that Desktop icons of PCManFM becomes movable!. Now we can move icons in desktop from here to another place dragging with a mouse pointer. But I am not sure whether it is included in Lubuntu 10.10 or not. I did not download ISO file yet.

To discover the lovely theme and other screen-shots you may view this post at a glance.

Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook is not start in desktop hardware

Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook is not start in desktop hardwareI was going to run Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook edition in my desktop machine with VirtualBox OSE. But when the starting process reached at the last stage, it stopped and showing a dialogue box. It says:
No required driver detected for unity.
You will need to choose the Ubuntu Desktop session once you select your user name.
If you are on Ubuntu live CD, the username is "ubuntu" and you have to enter a blank password.
I clicked OK then running process force me back to a session/user chooser page that mean in login screen. The dialogue box told that "No required driver detected for unity". That mean it is a hardware issue. 'Unity desktop environment' needs Netbook related hardware to work properly.

I am very sorry that can't view the beauty of Netbook edition. Older Ubuntu Netbook editions had no problem in this way. They start normally in my desktop machine with VirtualBox OSE. I just want to know if I can't take a look into this newly published operating system then how do I choose it?
* I have not any Netbook. I just trying to test UNR.
